Q:  What accomplishment are you most proud of?

A: From a professional standpoint, becoming an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) was probably the most gratifying formal accomplishment.  However, I would say I’m prouder of being able to be a part of all the success stories of my patients over the years.  Really for me it comes down to being able to give 100% in the clinic each and every day.  Having an intention to help someone and a passion to do so is more important than any other skillset in my opinion.

Q:  What type of professional growth have you experienced in the past few years?

Nate and Rob looking at a pelvic skeleton model

A:  In the physical therapy profession it is really important to stay up to date on current evidence and best practice.  In the past few years I’ve made a point to attend several national and international conferences on key topics including back pain, pelvic pain and manual therapy.  Being exposed to the newest academic information has helped tremendously with educating patients and providing advice.

Q:  What is your favorite part of being a physical therapist?

A:  For me, the best part are the personal relationships that form over time with patients and co-workers.  Being able to help someone when they are injured and vulnerable is a rewarding experience.  It is a special thing to be able to help someone through a physical and emotional trauma and ultimately see a profound transformation.

Q:  What are your passions within the field of physical therapy?

A:  The beauty of the PT field is there are so many different areas of specialty to learn from.  My passion is collaborating with other creative minds in the field and trying to develop the best understanding of the human body and movement as possible.  Some of my more recent interests have involved using diagnostic ultrasound and orofacial pain rehab.

Q:  Where is your favorite place to visit?

A:  That is a tough question because I really enjoy traveling to different places.  If I had to pick one, I would pick the Outer Banks in North Carolina.  We spend a weekend every year vacationing there with family.  It is a good mix of relaxation and fun.

Q:  What was the first concert you attended?

Nate and his wife

A:  The first concert I went to was O.A.R when I was in high school.  For a few years after it became a summer tradition to see them at Merriweather.  Every once in a while I will still listen to the live album on the way to work.

Q:  What is your favorite pastime?

A:  My wife will be the first to tell you I am a devoted sports fan and junkie.  I like to follow all of the local teams including the Terps and Ravens.

Q:  What was your most memorable job before working at Bethesda Physiocare?

A:  I spent one summer working for Boardwalk Fries at Camden Yards for the Oriole’s games.  It was a unique experience to be in the stadium when no one was there yet and see the inner workings of the ballpark.
